Pulwama terror attack

Militants from the Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist organisation targetted a CRPF convoy with a car bomb IED, destroying vehicles and killing several jawans.

Investigated agencies suspect that a suicide bomber was involved in the attack, which took place on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in Pulwama.Nearly 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and many others injured when terrorists targeted a convoy with a car bomb at Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Thursday, in what is the worst attack ever on security personnel in the state.

The injured have been moved to the army base hospital in Srinagar, 20 km from the attack site.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the security forces have been given full freedom to give a befitting reply for the Pulwama terror attack which killed at least 40 CRPF jawans. PM Modi said that the forces behind this act of terrorism and those responsible for it would pay a 'very heavy price' and had made a 'big mistake'. He said that security forces have been given permission to take decisions about the timing, place and nature of their response.
